Can Hicky do it again this TT?

Can Hicky do it again this TT?

May Bank Holiday has been upgraded with TT action kicking off once again. Brace yourselves for some palpable tension on Monday 29th May, sparking 5 days of qualifying sessions around the beastly 37.73 mike course. All systems go on Saturday 03rd June, marking the first race day of the long-anticipated TT.

This year, the TT has been shaken up to improve the economical benefits and deliver a World Class Event (meanwhile safety fears threatening to close the book on an era?). “We cross each other’s paths and it’s like ‘how are you doing’ but I know they’ll all be s******* themselves,” says McGuinness.”

After last year’s tragedies the event organisers have placed great emphasis on improving rider safety and the spectator and resident experience throughout the event. Now featuring 2 long weekend visiting options for fans and a reduced number of race days to ease up the demand on the Island and its’ volunteers!

Last year our TT champs included Peter Hickman (PHR Performance) in the Supertwin TT Race who bagged the title in the Superstock TT, Superbike TT and Senior TT races too (Gas Monkey by FHO Racing). Dunlop scored the top spot in the Supersport TT races, with Hicky coming in 2nd and 3rd.

Who’s on what for this year? The top 20 for the Superstock, Superbike and Senior TT race:

  1. David Johnson – C&L Fairburn Properties by Jackson Racing, Honda
  2. Dean Harrison – DAO Racing, Kawasaki
  3. John McGuinness MBE – Honda Racing UK, Honda
  4. Jamie Coward – KTS Racing powered by Steadplan, Honda
  5. James Hillier – OMG Racing, Yamaha
  6. Michael Dunlop – Hawk Racing, Honda
  7. Josh Brookes – FHO Racing, Honda
  8. Davey Todd – Milenco by Padgett’s Motorcycles, Honda
  9. Lee Johnston – Ashcourt Racing, Honda
  10. Peter Hickman – FHO Racing, BMW
  11. Conor Cummins – Milenco by Padgett’s Motorcycles, Honda
  12. Michael Rutter – Bathams Racing, Honda
  13. Dominic Herbertson – APERO, BMW
  14. Philip Crowe – Nigel Appleyard / Agri Wash, BMW
  15. Nathan Harrison – Honda Racing UK, Honda
  16. Mike Browne – Burrows Engineering / RK Racing, BMW
  17. Gary Johnson – Smith’s Motors / JR Performance, Honda
  18. Shaun Anderson – Team Classic Suzuki, Suzuki
  19. Sam West – Street Diner Racing, BMW
  20. Craig Neve – Bathams Racing, Honda

The pack will be led by David Johnson in number 1 position after an absence in 2022 due to injury. Hicky has retained race number 10 and John McGuinness, 23-time TT race winner, will be running again with number 3.

Dean Harrison will keep number 2 and Michael Dunlop, number 6. Milenco by Padgett’s Davey Todd (8) and Conor Cummins (10) are ones to watch for the season after finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in last years’ Superstock TT. Will Hicky surrender his TT title?

We are sending wishes for a speedy recover to Lee Johnson, runner up of last year’s Supertwin, who is currently recovering from a nasty crash at this year’s NW200 practice. We extend these well-wishes to Nathan Harrison who has been forced out of contention at the TT owing to injuries sustained at the NW200 and Gary Johnson who suffered a femur break at Hořice Road Race, Czech Republic
